It’s my birthday, so I am treating myself to a completely self-indulgent post. Yes, this is all about ME!
Today I am thirty. I have become an old woman, so I probably should start growing up. Well, I can make a good impression of it for today, anyway.
This morning my children woke me up with a cushion they chose for my bed. Last night they gave me a new hair straightener that I asked for. I insisted on getting it last night so I could straighten my hair for work today. I’m boring like that.
Then Alex and the girls made me coffee
Mmmmm. Nothing better than coffee being brought to you just after you’ve woken up.
Tonight I’m going out with Alex and the girls for dinner, because the kids aren’t coming tomorrow night.
Which leads me to tomorrow night – I’m going out for dinner at a Lebanese restaurant with about twenty of my family and friends. Lovely!
So ends the self-indulgence. Well, not quite. I’ll probably be like this for another couple of days. I’m only ever going to turn thirty once, after all.

I hope you have a wonderful evening! Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday. 30 seems so young!! Enjoy it.
Happy Birthday.
Enjoy!
Happy Birthday to yuuu,
Happy Birthday to yuuuu,
Happy BIRTHday, dear Heatherrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…. (gasp)
Happy Birthday to yuuuuuuu!!!!
Congrats on the big three oh! 30 *is* young, you crazy woman! We’re just gettin’ started!
Happy Birthday Heather. I hope it was a great one!!
Oh you are all so nice
Thank you all!
Sarah, why then do I feel so old when trying to get up after sitting on the floor?
Although I do concur that we are just getting started. Watch out world when we turn 40!
I thought you were already 30.
(Ducks and runs…)
Seriously, Happy 12th anniversary of your 18th birthday.
You’d better be running fast, Erin!
Seriously, thanks.
I want to wish you a Happy Birthday even though you just called me old. Since I am older than you I must be, right?
Of course! But that’s always been the case – anybody older than me is old
I can only get away with that because it’s my birthday.
30 eh? Bet you can’t catch me up!!!! Glad the movie Logan’s Run isn’t a reality – because now would be the time for you to RUN!!!!
Mark R~
LOL! Logan’s Run was one of my favorite movies when I was a teenager……. we won’t say when that was.
Old woman, you say? Oh, man! I turned 49 last week. 5-0 next year. Talk to me in two decades, woman, about “old woman!”
Hope you have a wonderful year! Happy Birthday!
Happy 30th!
I’m sorry I missed it on the day but you can always make it your birthday month. You still have quite a few more days of indulgence ahead of you.
Happy Birthday, Heather. And hey. Your old enough to be my daughter. (Cuz, I’m as old as dirt.)
Happy Birthday!
Happy belated b’day!
Mark and Katherine, I have never seen Logans Run. Looks like a trip to the video shop is in order
(what is it called now they rent DVDs instead????)
Tracy and Bill, you’re only as old as you feel. After staying out extremely late (make that early) on my birthday I most definitely felt fifty.
Thanks, Dan and Shelly!
Just thought I’d let you all know I had the most fantastic night. Sixteen of my bestest friends and family all came out with me to a Lebanese restaurant. It was so great to catch up with everybody! Then a few of us headed out to the Blue Diamond afterwards and stayed until – I don’t know – somewhere around 2am. We danced, we talked – it was great.
Then I got home and opened my presents. It was the best! Every single person who gave me something really, really thought about what I would like. My brother even designed me a T-shirt! I loved every single thing, and it made me feel so loved.
I soooo have the best friends
They’re still videos. DVD stands for Digital Video Disc (I think).
Thanks, Katherine.
Incidentally, we were lent a video (the old rewindable kind) a few weeks ago, and my nine year old daughter had no idea what it was.
Scary.
